Top 15 90s movies to watch during lockdown

These are 15 essential movies to watch during lockdown. The list was supposed to a top 10 but there are just too many good movies from the 90s.



As many people all over the world are in lockdown due the coronavirus pandemic many are looking for ways to entertain themselves.

Some have become experts at baking banana bread while others have become backyard marathon runners.

If you're one of the many that's just enjoying spending your lockdown time on your couch in front of your TV then this list is for you.

15. 10 Things I Hate About You

One of Heath Ledger's and and Julia Stiles's earlier movies at the beginning of their careers. Although they were fairly new actors they both gave strong performances. A teen movie with actually good acting.



14. American Pie

This coming of age movie is packed with laughs from the beginning and doesn't stop till the end. Warn your partner because you would be punching their shoulder or slapping their thigh with laughter! Stars Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas and a few other up and coming actors of that era.



13. The Fifth Element

It's a Bruce Willis movie but it's in space and in the future. If you want to see Mila Jovovich in a bandaid bikini then this is a must see movie! Great story with lots of wit and action!



12. Braveheart

Arguably one of the greatest movies ever made. Directed by and starring Mel Gibson as William Wallace the Scott that started a revolution to free Scotland from an oppressive England and a tyrant of an English king. The beautiful scenes and enchanting music comes together with an unforgettable story.



11. Speed.

This is the movie that took action movies to the next level. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock star in this blockbuster film that keeps you glued to the edge of your seat in a movie that really lives up to it's name.



10. Independence Day

This was a big change for the Fresh Prince as he makes his debut in action. Aliens invade Earth and they're not friendly. Watch Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum save the world. This movie will make you look up the next time you step outside.



09. Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks gives a delightful performance as the title roll in this All American movie. Forrest Gump follows the life of a simple Alabama man that experiences the Vietnam War, Watergate and other events as he tries to reunite with his childhood sweetheart. One of the best.



08. Toy Story

Toys come to life when there aren't any humans around! This movie is about friendship and sticking together. Voiced by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and other stars. One of the first 3D animated movies to capture the hearts of the young and old.



07. Saving Private Ryan

Tom Hanks was definitely on a roll in the 90s. This is the story of a band of WWII soldiers out to rescue a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in the war.



06. Fight Club

A roller coaster ride of clever story telling and mayhem. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton do the unthinkable to avoid the norm in this classic.



05. The Matrix

Have your mind blown multiple times by The Matrix. You will have to watch this a few times to fully grasp it. Still a visual delight to this day.

Some crazy scientists decide to bring back dinosaurs by extracting DNA from prehistoric mosquitoes trapped in resin. Why would anyone want to bring back creatures on top of the food chain from another era?

If you don't know the story of Jack and Rose then you have to watch this at least once. Early roles by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Kate won an Oscar and this was the first of a long list of nominations for Leo.

Disney's classic will forever be a favorite for many. Watch Simba face many trials and tribulations as he struggles to become the king of the jungle.

One of Quentin Tarantino's first directorials. The film is so good that it is still used as a study by many film students around the world.
