As I sip my regular vending machine coffee my mind drifts back to the heavenly aromas and tastes I experienced at the Nespresso Boutique at Gateway last week.
I had the pleasure of attending a tasting session and the opportunity to meet Etienne Benet who is the Regional Manager of Nespresso for the Middle East, Africa and Caribbean.
As we waited for the event to begin we were treated to some pleasant snacks and amazing coffee combinations. I never knew coffee went so well with orange juice to make a refreshing, thirst quenching drink. Another surprise was a milk tart latte which tasted very much like everyone's favorite dessert.
Every two months or so they release some limited edition flavours and we had the pleasure of sampling these from Mexico and Rwanda.
Some familiar faces seen at the event were @askashe, @lizlaughalot and @cathjenkins. It was great catching up with them as we enjoyed the different delicious coffee creations.
One of the questions that I thought was very important was answered by Etienne and that was what their recycling program and strategy in Africa was? It was good to know that 80% of the capsules including the coffee grounds were being recycled currently and they're looking at 100% recycling in the near future. The key to this is collaboration by the consumer because it is up to them to bring in the used capsules.
At the end of the day we were all on a great caffeine buzz and walked away with a goodies bag that contained a nifty Nespresso travel mug.
What is your favourite hot beverage?
