Pinch Me. I'm Dreaming

I was jumping up and down on Saturday night after the final whistle blew at Old Trafford. I only realised that Andre Villa-Boas was doing the same dance I was after watching the replay.

Tottenham Hotspurs beat Manchester United 2-3 for the first time in 23 years at Old Trafford. Their first away win against Man United since 1989 in the English Premier League. AVB was visibly in heaven!

Spurs dominated the first half taking the lead just after a mere 2 minutes into the game from a strike from Vertonghen. The second goal was by Gareth Bale after a blistering run from ten meters inside Spurs half. Rio Ferdinand didn't have the pace or the "silks" to catch him.

The second half saw United having more possesion of the ball but I guess Ferguson's shoe and hairdryer talk in the change room didn't work because the final score saw Manchester United losing at home and a very ecstactic Tottenham Hotspurs team leaving Old Trafford winners!

Deena wins Masterchef SA

South Africa has its first Masterchef. Deena Naidoo has these bragging rights in the bag when he was announced as Masterchef last night. After three grueling tasks the two finalists, Sue-Ann Allen and Deena Naidoo had to prepare, Deena came out tops. I became a fan of Deena's after he pulled off that near impossible chocolate mousse cake.
It was great watching the contestants grow and improve as better cooks. Deena took home R250 000.00 courtesy of Unilever's Robertson's Spices, a Hyundai Elantra 1.6 GLS and the cherry on the top being the Mondovino Restaurant. One of my twitter friends @Riona_Singh deduced a few weeks ago that Deena was the winner just by looking at his twitter handle and bio. His @deenamcsa handle was the only one from all the contestants that has mcsa (MasterchefSA) at the end of it. Some might argue that since Deena is an IT Specialist MCSA could mean Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate but now that he has won that theory is out! The other hint is that his Bio says Masterchef Finalist! This means he was part of the final two which as we saw was the case. Enough of the conspiracy theories. I'll leave that to Rio.
I'm really proud that the winner of the first South African Masterchef is a local boy. Born and brought up in Durban and such humble and mild mannered person. Congratulations Deena! All the best in your new adventure! Who was your favorite Masterchef SA contestant? Did you think the right person won?

The Red Devils in Durban

Fans of Manchester United Football Club will be treated to a double dose of their soccer heroes in Durban this week. There will be an open practice session where the public can view the players getting ready for their match against local team Amazulu F.C. the next day, 18 July 2012 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Some of the players that will be coming down with the 19 times English Premier League Champions are Valencia(wearing the prestigious number 7), Anderson, Carrick, Powell, Kagawa, Scholes, Bebe, Petrucci, Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda, Lindergaard, Amos, Johnstone, Ferdinand, Veseli, Vermijl, Wooton and Blackett.
Other players like Ryan Giggs and the da Silva twins, Fabio and Rafael, and Cleverly are on Olympic Games duty while Wayne Rooney is on an extended break. This will also be an opportunity to see Manchester United in their 2012-13 kit. Fans will be anxious to see their favourite EPL players score on Wednesday but hopefully Amazulu will put up a brave effort and give them a run for their money. Are you a football fan and which team do you support?

VIP Heineken Experience 2012

Last Saturday was the 2012 Champions League Final. Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich.

Bayern had an advantage because they were playing at their home ground in Munich. It's very rare for a final of this magnitude to be played at one of the finalists' home ground.

We couldn't make it to Munich to watch the final but Heineken together with Spiga D'Oro and Upstairs brought the final to us.

We were treated to a table for ten and free food and what seemed like an endless supply of Heineken. I was fortunate enough to win a competition held by Heineken.
My friends and I got there well before the match started. This gave us enough time to enjoy the great food Spiga never fails to deliver and get our thirsts quenched by Heineken.

The match itself produced a disappointing result as Chelsea had won by penalty shoot out. I always feel the team that played a better game were robbed when they lose through penalties at the end.

By Chelsea winning the 2012 Champions League Final means they don't have to qualify for the tournament next season and that means Tottenham Hotspurs don't qualify as they finished fourth in the Barclays Premier League.

But all in all we had fun. The atmosphere Upstairs was great and Spiga food is always delicious.

Looking forward to more events at this great little venue.

Draw Something

Draw Something is the latest app from OMGPOP. It's a game played on iPhone, Adnroid smartphones and other tablets. I'm fortunate I have a big screen on my iPad 2 because if you don't have a stylus drawing can be quite difficult if you want to be more creative than drawin just stick figures.

Basically you have to guess what your friend has drawn by watching a video of his drawing in progress. You get 10 scrambled letters and have to try to figure out what the drawing is. If you get it right then you earn gold coins. With these coins you can buy more colours.

Some people have done amazing drawings. But I suppose they're pros and are using a stylus.

Here are a few of my drawings. You can see more amazing drawings from Draw Something here.

Tell me what you think of my Draw Something drawings in the comments below.

TVD - The Vampire Craze

Recently I met this little girl (@Riona_Singh)and she insisted I watch a TV series that is quite popular at the moment. The Vampire Diaries.

Now with the sudden popularity of vampires in modern culture I was totally put off by this especially since I'm not a fan of those sparkly vampires. Give me an Anne Rice novel or movie any day!

When I started watching the first season I was pleasantly surprised with the darkness and almost believable story line. The vampires of Mystic Falls made sense!

One thing I noticed about the series is that it has it's own look and feel. If you're flipping through channels and come across it on your screen you immediately know you're watching TVD.

Personally I think it has a brown look to it. Everything is brown. Even all three of the lead characters are brown haired!

Damon and Stefan Salvatore are played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley respectively. Damon is the bad boy vampire and Stefan is trying to prove that vampires can be good. But apparently both are supposed to be the good guys.

Elana Gilbert/Katherine Pierce is played by Nina Dobrev. The character of Elana is a doppelganger of Katherine the vampire the brothers were in love with about a 150 years ago. Surprisingly she's more of a heroine than a damsel in distress.

TVD is a good series to follow. The story isn't far fetched and the character development is brilliant. All in all this tv series doesn't suck as much as some movies currently on about vampires.

Who is your favourite TVD character? Would you want to be turned? Is drinking blood better than eating your favourite pizza?
