World Rhino Day 22 September 2014

Today is world Rhino Day!

World Rhino Day celebrates all five species of rhino: Black, white, greater one-horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos. It is held every year on the 22nd September.

It started of as an awareness day started by the WWF in South Africa has grown into a global phenomenon but this isn't stopping poachers from killing rhinos for their horns.

For more info on World Rhino Day you can visit the official website here.

Let's make the world aware that rhinos in the wild are dwindling and soon we won't have these majestic creatures if we don't put a stop to rhino horn poaching.

GREYVILLE EXHIBITION AND EVENTS COMPANY

Last Thursday 18 September 2014, saw the launch of the Greyville Exhibition and Events Company.

The event was attended by over 500 event organisers and media personalities who were given a tour of the facilities before ending up at the executive suite for a fabulous fashion show, drinks and snacks.

Essentially what was showcased was a venue that can cater for events ranging from a small intimate dinner party to a full on wedding or a sporting event.

Some of the rooms included the Sea Cottage room which is a little small and the Silver Ring Room which is one of the largest indoor facilities without any pillars inside it in Durban. From this room you can see the beautiful Durban skyline across the Greyville Racecourse and the Royal Durban Golf Course.

The fashion show at the end of the night's launch included some of Durban's most talented designers. The show started off with Just Undies models dressed in some of the sexiest lingerie that could rival a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show followed by the show stopping Kireshen Chetty Styling and Jacqui Emmanuel amongst other designers.

The evening ended in a spectacular fireworks display with everyone going home with a goodie bag and a couple bottles of wine.

Neon Run SA: The Durban Chapter

Last weekend on the 30 August 2014 was Durban's turn to experience this really bright event.

Gates opened at 2:00pm and the Neon Run was scheduled for 6:30pm.

There was plenty of entertainment as people slowly filled up the side field near Kingspark Stadium. Some 5FM DJs including Roger Goode, Dean FUEL and alternate rocker Mathew Mole played throughout the day.

The 5km run started at 7:00pm with some people running straight to the loos at Moses Mabhida Stadium and a few people (I won't mention any names) running straight to Subway for a chow!

The run itself was fun. There were people skateboarding and rollerblading too. At the halfway mark there was a led UV light station for people to take selfies.

When the people got back the party went on into the night.

We didn't stay till the end. We ended up at Rovers Sports Club and were unfortunate enough to see some Rovers Rugby players go Full Monty on the bar! The free stripshow was not appreciated.

The next run is to be held in Bloemfontein at Chevrolet Park on the 20th of September 2014. If you're in the area it would be good to check it out. You won't be disappointed.
